Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation

The "Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation" was born out of the recognition by the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that the protection of integrity and the fight against corruption in all its forms are fundamental principles in Islamic Sharia and international laws. It also stems from their belief that international cooperation in combating corruption has become an inevitable necessity imposed by the current reality and necessitated by the increase in its criminal activities among various countries of the world.

This agreement aims to strengthen the exchange of information and investigation procedures between anti-corruption law enforcement authorities in order to prevent, detect, investigate and prosecute corruption crimes and recover stolen assets, in addition to strengthening the exchange of technical assistance, training and exchange of experiences between member states, in order to improve the effectiveness of their exchange of information and investigations regarding corruption crimes.

Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) signed the convention on the sidelines of the Second Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies in the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, held from 26 to 27 November 2024 in Doha, Qatar, affirming the commitment of the State of Kuwait to continue its efforts in promoting international cooperation to combat corruption crimes and support the exchange of experiences in the preparation of anti-corruption programs and plans.
